The Nevada DPBH scheduled a public workshop for Monday, December 23, 2013, 9:00am at:
Nevada Division of Public and Behavioral Health
4150 Technology Way
Carson City, Nevada
It will be Video Conferenced to:
Nevada Early Intervention Services
3811 W. Charleston Blvd. Suite 112
Las Vegas, Nevada 89102
This meeting is to get input regarding proposed Amendments to NAC453A which could become Nevada Medical Marijuana Regulations, and public comments are being solicited. Due to scheduling issues, this meeting will not be broadcast over the internet and due to technical difficulties, it cannot be accessed via conference line. The meeting will still proceed on December 23rd in an effort to stay on schedule for submitting the regulations draft to the Legislative Counsel Bureau by the end of 2013.
Maria McDade Williams, Deputy Administrator at the Nevada Division of Public and Behavioral Health is also willing to work directly with the public to discuss proposed Nevada Medical Marijuana Regulations, but the DPBH cannot change anything that is required by SB374. If you would like to schedule a meeting with Maria McDade Williams, send an email to:
After the regulations are returned from the Legislative Counsel Bureau in a proposed form, another Public Workshop will be scheduled to review the legal language of the proposal. A State Board of Health Adoption Hearing will also be scheduled where additional changes can be made. All issues must be settled before submitting the final draft to the Legislative Commission in order to make the April 1, 2014 deadline for adopting Nevada Medical Marijuana Regulations.
The Nevada Division of Public and Behavioral Health (DPBH) released their Small Business Impact Statement which reviewed the 6 public responses to their Questionnaire on the impact of proposed amendments to NAC453A. The DPBH determined that they would not cause a significant burden on small business or restrict the formation of small businesses. They also determined that the audit fees in this privileged industry are fair and announced that they do not have the authority to change the $250,000 requirement or the non-refundable $5,000 application fee.
The Nevada Division of Public and Behavioral Health is supporting a Youtube Channel where medical marijuana workgroup meetings are being uploaded. Medical marijuana workgroup discussions about cultivation facilities, dispensaries, marijuana-infused production, and testing laboratories are available for public review. Beyond some minor technical difficulties, the first set of videos contain good information and a variety of suggestions and considerations. Expect more videos to be uploaded and don’t forget to subscribe.
